Do Female Teddy Bear Hamsters have long hair?

I just got a female teddy bear hamster on Saterday the 24th of November. The pet store says she is still young, (to me she looks pretty big...10cm/4-5inchs). Her hair looks pretty short for now, is she just young or female teddy bear hammies have short hair? I thought they are all suppose to have long hair...she has lovely hair, not SHORT short, just not as long as I see online (hers is kinda fluffy). any info would be great~ Thank you

I have a female Teddy bear and unfortunately, they may be sold as purebred, but they are not and one or the other parents are short haired syrians.

I bought mine from a breeder, as a pure bred along with another unrelated male which has the teddy bear coat of thick longish black fur. My female is a champagne red eye, but has rough hair which is longer than usual but not as long as the male.

Of the two litters they have had, all the females were average coated while the males were all long haired, with one with curly long hair.

I think its more a case of the males having the gene for the long coat, while the females may have it, but its not as long as the males.

At 5inches, shes adult and not a baby but then an adult hamster is mature and full sized at three to four months old.

A fish liver oil capsule pricked and squirted over the food once a week, keeps the fur glossy and in good condition

Teddy bears are more fluffy than long haired. I think she could still grow from that, ours is probably about 6 inches or more. She's very big for a hamster, we have a short hair Syrian.
